Seventy Gawith and Akers family members gathered in a woolshed on Broadlands Station near Ashurst, New Zealand, to celebrate the 80th Birthday of Molly Akers.
After morning Tea everyone enjoyed a tour of Molly's son Hughs Farming Museum and then it was lunch in the woolshed and lots of catch up chats.
Family descended on Ashurst from all over the North Island, Nelson and as far away as Sydney to spend the day with Molly. It was a wonderful reunion for all the first cousins, Mollys brothers Alan and Brian, sister Doth and sister in law Mary Gawith.
Molly was a land girl in her early days and on her day looked very relaxed in the woolshed atmosphere.
Molly is the author of the book MacRaes to New Zealand (see MacRae Books), the most valuable research tool for MacRaes with New Zealand links.
