I am looking for lineage of Duncan McRae (born around 1805, aka 'The Real Duncan') who emigrated to Van Dieman's Land around 1835/6 and subsequently settled in Victoria (1839). He married Janet McRae (nee McRae d. of Fair John of Faddoch)) in Melbourne (1841). He had at least 2 brothers as they joined him in Victoria in 1852 (Alexander and Murdoch) having first settled in Nova Scotia. Family stories say his father was Farquhar and mother was Isabella (nee McKenzie). Given that there were several other Duncan McRaes in Australia around this time and several hundred in Scotland, can anyone help unravel the mainland Scotland web of Duncans? Would love to hear.
