I have recently become aware of the old stone church at Dornie, not far from Eilean Donan Castle, that is now a William MacRae Memorial site. Can anyone tell me anything about this particular William MacRae? I am especially interested in when he lived, as I descend from a William Rea or MacRae who was born in Kintail in 1680 and raised in County Down, Northern Ireland. Either William's father, or William himself dropped the "Mac" from the surname and it has been Rea ever since.
